----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tenth at Kits meets at 10:30 am at Kitsilano Secondary School, 2550 West 10th Avenue (and Trafalgar), Vancouver, BC V6K 2J6. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kitsilano has ;ong been considered of the most vibrant and hip communities in Canada. Its history as a hippie magnet for North America can still be traced through its relaxed but substantial connection with health, wellness, and nature.
Today, its free-spirited vibe has made it a trend-setting centre for the unconventional, so much so, that Kits is now renowned for its unique blend of the newly fashioned with a beatnik twist. Community identifying markers like the Naam, Banyan Books, Choices, and Lulu Lemon each express something of the values and ethos of Kits, and being situated on one of the country’s most trendy and scenic beaches certainly adds to the draw of Kits.
But for all that Kits has to offer, there is still a lot that is unfortunately absent. At Tenth, we feel that there is a deep need in Kits and in its surrounding communities for a renewed sense of spiritual connection with Jesus.
We think that people today want to attach themselves to something meaningful, something hopeful, something life-giving; and our own experience has led us to believe that that those attachments best happen by knowing Jesus.
Having been changed by Jesus, we’re committed to communicating God’s incomparable love for people and his generous invitation into his family. And we make it our goal to try live like Jesus - to do all we can to embody his way of life - one of compassion, justice, and service.
We feel that God has called us to Kits to serve as a community of faith on Vancouver’s west side to share the meaning, hope, and life of Jesus Christ.
We hope people will experience genuine community at Tenth Church Kitsilano and discover more about God’s character and work in the world, and that by our presence in Kits, we might be a blessing and gift to the people around us.
