Seventeen years ago, when we first began discerning our long-term engagement with Cambodia, we partnered with four small organizations. One of them was Big Brothers and Sisters of Cambodia, which focused on Christian youth walking alongside forgotten and impoverished children. Over time, BBSC grew and became international 11 years ago, changing its name to Alongsiders.
As a church, we’ve journeyed with Alongsiders every step of the way, including providing major support for Shalom Valley—the first Christian Adventure Camp in Cambodia. To date, more than 10,000 youth have experienced God’s peace at Shalom Valley, and globally, there are now over 75,000 Alongsiders in 30 countries.
Here’s a video showing the simplicity and impact of the Alongsiders movement.
In appreciation of your support, we invite you to an appreciation night on Wednesday, November 20, where you’ll get a taste of the Alongsiders movement and a glimpse of where we’re heading in the next five years.
One way we support partners like Alongsiders is through our Justice Journeys. Our team will be in Cambodia from October 14 to November 8. We would appreciate your prayers over then the next month as we embark on this journey of support to our partners in Cambodia.
