What We Believe

Tenth Church seeks God's transformative presence in our neighbourhoods, city, and world by embodying the way of Jesus. We encourage people to practice spiritual rhythms that foster a deeper connection with God so we can joyfully serve others.

Tenth Church is a place where people of all different backgrounds can discover Christ, a community of spiritual transformation that seeks justice for all.

Values

Relating

We seek to love God and love people.

Relying on God's Spirit

We recognize that there are things that only God can do. We depend on God's Spirit in prayer and rely on the wisdom of His inspired Word.

Raising Disciples

We believe that lives can be changed through the power of Jesus Christ. We seek to be a community where people can grow toward wholeness and reach their potential as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Reconciling

We encourage reconciliation among people of different races, cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, generations, and genders.

Reaching Out

We believe personal growth is not an end in and of itself. We grow so that we will be a blessing to those around us, our city, and to the world, especially to those who are spiritually and materially poor.

Statement of Faith

The Apostle's Creed

We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic (universal) church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Dating from the 2nd century, the Apostles' Creed expresses the foundational beliefs of Christian churches that has remained throughout the ages.

As part of the Canadian and Missionary Alliance of Canada, Tenth Church affirms the C&MA Statement of Faith.

Creation Care

At Tenth Church, we believe that caring for God's creation is an integral part of our faith. Inspired by the biblical mandate to faithfully steward the earth, we are committed to caring for God's handiwork. Through our community gardens, eco-friendly initiatives, and supporting public policy that protects the earth, we seek to protect and preserve the environment for future generations.

Truth & Reconciliation

At Tenth, we seek to participate with Jesus in restoring existing relationships and forming new, healthy ones with a spirit of humility and love.

The Truth & Reconciliation Commission opens and exposes our eyes to the tragic history and legacy of Canadian Indian Residential Schools, as well as their ongoing effects on First Nations communities and peoples. We are committed to listening, learning, and taking action that fosters healing and justice, as we stand alongside Indigenous brothers and sisters.
